I was with a client earlier today, and we were discussing diet and nutrition and it occured to me, that even though there is so much information and so many reports issued on a daily basis, via Newspapers, magazine, tv etc that people are not only confused, but they don’t seem to know the basic facts that would help them improve there diet and enable them to lose weight.
For example: very few people I talk to know that 3500 calories represents one pound of fat. Or how big portion sizes should be, as a rough guide your fist should represent the protein, and again for your carbs, and an open hand (or the rest of your plate) should be vegetables. Or what there Basal Metabolic Rate is in calories.
A good Personal Trainer should be able to offer you simple tips like these and offer you solutions to enable you to achieve your goals and change your diet and eating patterns for the good of your health.
