Getting down to the wire

It’s been a while since I last posted but I just didn’t feel like updating on sad/redundant things that have been going on with myself.

That being said I have REAL NEWS: I got the call and my surgery is set for Thursday this week AND my insurance has approved it all. No questions, no appeals, nada. This is something for which I am HIGHLY thankful for. This is my Christmas gift to myself. Now I can focus only on the healing/losing/self-appreciation part in 2010 instead of  walking around in the limbo I was in these past few weeks.

Currently they have me on a liquid diet that I absolutely LOATHE. I have yet to find a brand that is low in carbs that doesn’t taste like absolute sh*t. This is one of the reasons I couldn’t stay on SlimFast when I tried it two summers ago.  Please note I CAN have a sweet tooth from time to time however after drinking one of these things I feel like I must drink 3 cups of water just to get the gag-worthy ’sweet’ taste from my mouth. Today I begin my clear-liquids only part of the diet and I am highly looking forward to having chicken broth and apple juice (who would have thought that this is what I would be reduced to?).  Once more I am reminding myself that this is all for the greater good.

I made a calculation last night: at 8lbs per month (given, of course, that I am capable of losing 2lbs/week) I should hope to reach my goal by this time next year.  This is the greatest motivating thing for me.  Even at the midway point that I will be in for this summer I can already anticipate sooo much of my life being given back to me.  If it weren’t for the chaos of the holidays I would probably start charting all the things that I will do each week for this coming summer of 2010.

Outlook: Hopeful
